I’ve begun quilting! I want a place to archive my projects so this is a page to share what I make.

January 2026: My magnum opus! For my friend Sanne’s birthday I took on the ambitious project of making her a mini quilt depiction of the Brontë Parsonage because she is a huge Brontë fan and I’d visited the house earlier in the year and really thought it was beautiful. I really enjoy depictions of houses (I collect miniature houses, I love doodling houses, etc) and I knew this would turn out great. There was no pattern for this so I just made it all up as I went along and I’m really happy with how it went. This type of Georgian house was perfect for this because of the symmetry but there were some very tricky bits around the doorway. Many things were done and redone and redone and redone but in the end it came out beautifully. I’m really happy with using the squared fabric for the window panes. I also literally emailed the Brontë Parsonage to ask “hi! historically, what colour was the front door when the Brontë’s lived there?” and they RESPONDED so that’s why the door is black. Historical accuracy!

December 9th, 2025: I made Conor this stocking! I had seen a similar one (a stocking using stripes) at a shop and thought it was so cute and that I could make my own version. I made a pattern that was really big and overexaggerated to emphasize the cuteness of it. I am so proud of this, it looks and feels so beautiful. I gifted it to Conor because this was the first Christmas we ever spent together and it was a way to welcome him to my Bissett family Christmas.

November 2025: I took a quilting class! It was a blast. It clicked so well in my head. I loved working with the sewing machine, the fabric, and the clever tricks you can do to make the geometry come together. I felt for a long time that eventually I would love quilting, it felt like this hobby that, once I got to trying it, would click and take over my hobby life. And I was right! This course was lovely (led by Marilyn Smulders) was a lovely introduction to the craft. It’s always so nice to pay for a workshop because it gives you the freedom to actually take the time to work on the craft because you’re like “I paid for this!” and by justifying it a bit more you actually take the time to learn something new.

February 22nd, 2025: My first ever quilting attempt! I just took some scrap fabric and went for it. They’re a bit wonky but it was a super fun mini project. I gifted them to my friend Raeleen because she always crochets me coasters.
